You Might Need a Golden Doodle

There are a lot of things to consider when the idea of getting a new dog for the family comes up.  Choosing the right breed to match your family is essential.  Although dogs and people have a long history of living together, not all dogs are created equal and there are some things that you should keep in mind when you start considering the various breeds available to you.

For many people, allergies are a major consideration.  They would love to get a new puppy, but any time they are around dogs, they find themselves in misery.  Runny eyes and noses, itchy skin, and even worse can result when allergies kick into gear.  A lot of people have forgone pet ownership in the past because of these side effects.  As much as they love the idea of owning a dog, the physical misery was not worth it.  Fortunately, there are some dogs who do not seem to cause this reaction in their allergic housemates.  If you suffer from allergies, you might want to look into the possibilities of getting yourself a golden doodle.

The name sounds a bit silly, but golden doodles are actually a cross of two already popular dog breeds.  A standard poodle is bred with a golden retriever to produce a litter of little golden doodles.  The looks of these puppies can vary dramatically, but most of them share a very important trait.  These dogs shed very little, and they usually don’t trigger allergies.

Doodles have also become popular due to the fact that it brings together the genes of two very intelligent breeds.  Also, when two pure bred parents are brought together to create a batch of doodles, the puppies often benefit from what is known as “hybrid vigor”.  Basically, this means that the pups often show the best traits of both breeds.  If you have been considering a new dog for your family, be sure to put golden doodles somewhere on your list of breeds to check out.
