What Kind of Outdoor Lights to Use on Your Patio?
Posted by GuestPoster in -The Great Outdoors
If the weather is nice again you probably want to spend a lot of time on your patio and enjoy it. In order to do so you want it to become an enjoyable place, adding decoration items and outdoor lights to it. But what are great lighting options to install on your patio and should you choose for low voltage lighting or solar lighting instead?
Lighting for your Patio
A few years ago people were very hesitant on using solar powered lamps because they were not of the same quality as low voltage lighting. The solar collectors were not efficient enough to offer the same brightness and duration that low voltage lighting offers. But with the introduction of LED lighting this has all changed and solar lights are a very good option to consider. The huge advantage is that you can do the installation yourself and don’t have to call for an expensive electrician. But you have to consider that you are still dependent on the amount of sun that reaches your garden, no sun means your garden or patio are not suited for using solar powered lamps.
What kind of fixtures to use?
You can use any lighting fixture you like because there are no restrictions when it comes to lamps for your garden, patio or inside usage. The main question will be what you think is beautiful. However, what most people do in order to properly decorate their patio with outdoor lighting is installing one large, bright light and several smaller accent lighting lamps.
Larger lighting fixtures are often the ones you install/ mount on your wall. Lanterns or sconces are good options to use as a bright lighting option because they are able to emit light in most directions, illumination your entire patio when necessary.
Small accent lights are used to create a certain ambiance on your patio. You don’t want to use the big lights all the time because they are much to bright. Accent lights will accentuate nice and cozy spots on your patio, like a small statue, some plants or maybe a fountain. The trick is to combine both lighting fixtures and make something amazing out of it.
