What are Reviews Made of?

When other people say review, what comes into your mind? Most probably the first things that you can think about are summaries, evaluations and comments made on some book or movie. Why would this not be, if during your student years you were asked (and more like required) by your instructor to write such articles to pass his or her class? But even if you are no longer a student, you can still write reviews. And you can make it as informal or as formal as you want, depending on where you would write or publish your article.
If you check newspapers, magazines, and even Internet articles, you would find that most reviews focus on movies, songs, literary works and theater plays. These are what critiques could say about what they have watched or what they have read, together with a recommendation at the end (whether they would like you to share the same experience as them or they would like you to consider reading or seeing something else). More often than not, you would also see ratings alongside the comments in such review articles (for example, out of five stars, if a movie got four, then it must really be something worth viewing).
Like what has been mentioned earlier, you would be able to find review articles in the Internet as well. Aside from movie, book, or stage play reviews, you would also be able to find evaluations on certain products. Some of these articles focus on proving the claims presented by the manufacturers regarding their merchandise. For example, a writer may want to write whether a particular printer can really print 30 pages per minute like what the creator has said. Aside from other information such as price and features, the writer may opt to put his/her findings about the device’s performance into words. On the other hand, there are some reviews that list down the best brands or models of a particular item. For example, reading reviews would be a great help in determining the best bathroom sinks that you could buy. Some articles may jot down about five or more candidates for what they think are the best bathroom sinks available; with such information you would definitely be able to make your choice. Still, there are some people who write evaluations about the service that they have received from a particular firm or company.
