What Are Planation Shutters?
Posted by GuestPoster in -Home Improvement
Plantation shutters, sometimes known as California or louver blinds, are wooden, or wood-like shutters with louvers set horizontally into panels. They are becoming quite popular again these days, especially among home owners who are going for a more rustic look.
Wooden shutters were used during the early pioneer and colonial days to cover open windows and provide relief from dust, rain and wind. In those days glass wasn’t used to cover windows, but instead shutters were made from hard wood often found nearby.
These days, aside from being decorative, they remain very useful in shielding rooms from direct sunlight and weather extremes, they also make it easy to control the amount of light let into a room, and they are easy to open and close.
Today they are not restricted to being made of wood only. They are also available in soft-wood, faux wood and vinyl. Because of this plantation shutters are affordable to almost anyone who is interested in them.
