Vintage Milk Bottles

People collect a lot of different things depending on their own particular memories and interests. I often look at the collectibles categories on eBay and see my own youth represented in the listings. Who ever would have thought that the every day items we took for granted would become collectible?
It seems that now, more than ever, people reaching middle age and beyond are looking for ways to recapture their youth. Some odd things are getting collected. Old ticket stubs, vintage clothing, really, you could name just about anything and then find someone who collects it.
One popular collectible that brings back memories for me is vintage milk bottles. I recall checking the milk box for my Mom and bringing in the fresh bottles of milk in the morning. My own kids looked at me like I sprouted a third eye when I said something about “the milkman” one day. I explained who he was and they didn’t say anything. I’m pretty sure they were wondering why we’d pay to have milk delivered instead of just going to the 7-11. When I saw how much some people were paying for these on eBay I realized that I wasn’t alone in my nostalgic reflection. I also realized that some people are willing to pay a lot more for the nostalgia than I am!
