Utilizing Local Business Directories

I spoke previously about how small business owners should be utilizing the free local listings offered by Google and Yahoo when promoting their businesses.  Today, I’d like to take a minute to discuss local business directories.  Web directories are basically the online equivalent of the yellow pages and offer another easy advertising alternative for young businesses or those looking for some additional marketing for their established companies.  More and More these days people are turning to the Internet to find services, businesses and products before they ever open up the yellow pages.  If you do a search on Indianapolis plumbers  I would venture to be the first few sites you will find are going to be Indiana business directory sites that list just about every type of business you can think of.

As a small business owner you don’t usually have time or money to mess with marketing your website to get it ranking highly in the search engines, however that’s what most of these local directory sites specialize in.  Take advantage and utilize their expertise in online marketing and get your business’s website listed you wont regret it.  Would you ever consider not being in the yellow pages?  Well local directories are quickly becoming more popular than the yellow pages because they off maps, ratings and reviews of companies and the customers really like to see this.  I’ll come back late with some more useful marketing tips for your small business.
