Use an Oil Extractor to Make Oil Changes Easy

All car owners should know they have to change their oil on a semi-regular basis (at least one hopes they do). however deciding when exactly you need to make the change can be tricky if you do not have any documentation for your car or if you’ve purchased a second-hand car and are not sure when the last change was made. In this case the best there is to search the Internet and try and find an owner’s manual for your vehicle. This is unjust useful for finding out the oil change frequency but also have a lot of other information such as the kind of tyres, the pressure, how things work on someone. It’s money well spent. Sometimes a third-party manual such as those by Hayes can be just as useful and you can generally browse for these in larger automotive stores.
If you’re not a budding mechanic the thought of changing your oil can be intimidating, particularly the part about getting the car up off the ground safely. One tool that you can use to avoid this problem is an engine oil extractor. This device consists of a long taxable tube that goes down the dipstick tube and into the oil pan. Once it is at the bottom it can suck out the oil into a container and from there you can dispose of it at your nearest oil recycling plant. One thing an oil extractor cannot help you with is changing the oil filter.
If you think you’re not going to remember when you change the oil then try and get yourself an oil change sticker. This is stuck onto the car windshield and you can write on it the date of the last change and the mileage reading for the next change. If in doubt is always a good idea to seek professional help or advice from someone with experience in car maintenance.
