When it’s time to replace your toilet, this is a simple do-it-yourself project to tackle, toilet installation is quick and can be done with basic tools.
Other than the toilet, you’ll be buying a packet of two 5/16th inch bolts and a toilet gasket. In rare cases you may need to replace the flange that holds the bowl to the floor, but this is a rare occurrence.
Remove the old toilet by turning off the water supply at the wall and disconnecting the hoses from the toilet. Flush the toilet until the tank is as empty as possible, then using a plastic tub for excess water, disconnect the water supply going to the tank. Remove the old floor bolts and take the toilet off as one piece. Clean the floor up, replace the flange and remount the bowl. Once it is set, reconnect the hoses and check for leaks.
