Tigerwood Wood Plank Flooring Options

It is essential that wood planks used for flooring are sturdy. Hence, it is a must that hardwood is used as wood plank flooring, especially in a high traffic area, such as entranceways and living rooms. Among hardwoods, exotic hardwoods are the hardest and strongest woods. These woods have the highest Janka rate and are built to last not only as flooring but as decking, paneling and furniture as well.
One popular exotic hardwood is the tigerwood, which is orange in color and has dark brownish grain patterns that make it look like a tiger. By appearance alone, you would know that tigerwood is an expensive wood. Like most exotic hardwoods, tigerwood has rich and vibrant color, intricate and interesting grain pattern and bright and evenly applied finish. However, tigerwood hardwood flooring has reduced quality when during its preparation, it was not completely dried. Further, sawing tigerwood as wood plank flooring must be done using carbide-tipped cutting tools; otherwise it will be permanently damaged. It may be one of the easiest to polish woods in the world, but certain skills are likewise required in sanding tigerwood.
While it is excellent to have elegantly looking tigerwood flooring, it needs special care in order to maintain its beauty. Remember that over time, tigerwood’s color darkens and its grain patterns gradually become less visible. This happens fast if the tigerwood floor is always exposed to sunlight. Since it is inevitable for the tigerwood floor to change in appearance, it is therefore necessary to change the location of the furniture pieces every change of season. In such case, all areas of the tigerwood floor are exposed to sunlight, giving the whole floor a uniform look. Also, when you have a rug or mat placed on the floor, make sure to move it to different location every month. If the rug or mat is located near the door, do move it twice a month.
