The Necessity to Use a Casket
Posted by GuestPoster in Personal Finances
As soon as a person dies the surviving family members are left without option to tackle all of the funeral arrangement. Decision making during this time is absolutely vague due to distress and anguish over the death of a loved one yet they must decide as quickly as possible.
Things to be decided includes the funeral services, what funeral homes should be used and the most important decision to be made is whether to bury or cremate the dead not to mention the cost of the funeral services as well as other miscellaneous expenses.
One thing you should keep in mind, almost all funeral homes are offering packages with different rates, and it depends on the services the package includes. But remember you have the right to refuse the package offered to you. If you think that some of the services included in the package is unnecessary then by all means you have the right to refuse it.
The most common funeral package is the service of transporting the remains from the hospital or morgue to the funeral homes, embalming, the casket or coffin and the transportation from the funeral homes to the cemetery. Aside from this major services there are still a lot of services these funeral homes to offer in order to slash an enormous sum from you. But if you find one of these services unnecessary then you better drop it from the list.
Although it is necessary to use caskets on funerals, especially when the families intend to have a long wake and vigil for friends and other relatives to bid their last farewell, it is not really necessary to use the most expensive one. Practical people opted for cheap and inexpensive casket as long as it is not leaking or doesn’t have any cracks.
The necessity in using caskets all relies on the kind of funeral service the family will get. If the family will chose direct cremation, the use of these caskets is just useless especially when the family will not allow viewing of the decease. The purpose of these caskets is actually for viewing of the dead though for practical people it serves as a casket and coffin in one. Some families also use the casket for burial because of this reason most practical people opted for cheaper casket as it will just decay along with the remains of their family member.
