The Dreaded Acne Scars

Acne is one of the most dreaded skin conditions for most people all over the world. This is because whether it is severe or just a mild case, acne can leave ugly scars on the skin which are hard, if not impossible, to remove.
Among all age groups, acne scars are more prevalent to those who are older. This is because there is already a loss of collagen this making the acne scars more prominent and not good to look at. But, teenagers are the ones who are most affected with the effects of acne scars.
There are two types of acne scars that may develop. One is the raised type of scar while the other is a depressed one. Raised acne scars are more common when there is already a growth of keloids or tissues at the site of the acne scars. These scars result from the loss of skin tissue which was caused by the spreading of the acne. This would also lead to a loss of collagen in the skin which makes the scar even more prominent..
Not all people get lucky when it comes to acne. There are some who would experience acne scars such as the types mentioned earlier. While for some, leaving the acne alone is enough to make the scars go away in time; some find it hard to get rid of them. Often, people would resort to acne scar removal medications and creams. Some people would choose to go for drastic measures like get a surgery but sometimes, this does not completely remove the scars.
Acne scars greatly affect a person’s confidence as it is not a very pleasant sight to look at. But, whatever type of treatment one would choose to undergo to get rid of acne scars, it is always important to consult a dermatologist first. They are experts and they are more knowledgeable on what types of medications would fit a certain person. This way, one would get the most effective treatment at a not-so-high cost.
