The Amazing Technology of Isochronic Tones

With advances in sound technology and understanding in how the brain function, there is now a simple technology which allows anyone to gently alter brainwaves and consequently change one’s state of mind. This technology is called brainwave entrainment. It refers to the use of sound recordings of particular frequencies which work simply by listening at them. The most well-known type of brainwave entrainment technology on the market is that of binaural beats but the latest development is what we call isochronic tones.

Isochronic tones work by listening to the sounds with or without headphones. Over the period of ten minutes only, if the listener is in a fairly relaxed and receptive state, the sounds entrain the mind into a particular state. There exist several different isochronic tones recordings for different use. One particular recording might be designed to bring about meditative-like brainwaves. Another could be made to concentrate on changing patterns in the self.

It might seem ludicrous, but it is all actually quite scientific. The logic behind the technology is nothing far-out: whenever we experience something and as we go through our lives, our brainwaves vary in accordance to what we are experiencing. During typical day to day activities, when we are busy, our brainwaves are active and fast. In scientific jargon, this means they are in the beta range of frequencies. But if we slow down, relax, perhaps read a book which engages our imagination, then our brainwaves would reflect that by slowing down. That would be theta frequencies.

The idea then is that by using sound files to influence our brainwaves – which is proven to work – we can change our state of minds and facilitate various experiences which could otherwise be more difficult to achieve. Isochronic tones are used, among other things, for stress relief, meditation, changing habits and dream recall. One can download, for example, a lucid dreaming MP3 made up of isochronic tones that will tune the mind to the same brainwaves that occur during such dreams and thus make it easier to experience it consciously.
