Technology: Is It Good Or Bad?

Posted by in Computers & Technology

Today, we see everything being done in an instant. With the advent of technology, it changed the way how man lived. Portable dvd player, cellular phones, laptops, iPad, iPhones; these are all current technologies in which most people are able to go with and access anytime, all the time while at work, or at school, in corporate meeting or just simply staying at home. But not all technologies are developed that would benefit to the comfort or prolong man’s life. There are those who would want more, who ought to seek power. Many nations throughout history (from the 5th Century B.C. to the current year) would want to expand their land, their influence to other neighboring countries. Those who don’t want to be liberated were forced to go to war. At first, bows, arrows, shields, and swords were used as tools of war. Fast forward into the future, high powered machine guns, Tanks with thick plated armor, fighter jets that soars the sky, seems pretty advance compared to what was use a long time ago when people go to war. Today, these certain technologies were developed by man to protect its nation from any threats that may come upon their country and not start a war.

In the medical field, a lot of breakthrough has been made in terms of developing cures for certain diseases or machines which could either save or prolong a person’s life. X-Ray, 2D echo, CT scan, mechanical ventilators, echocardiogram, defibrillators, what would we do without them. Medical practitioners rely heavily on the results of their patient’s test of what the machines would give them. Doctors are able to come up with diagnosis just by reviewing a patient’s CBC lab result or reading an ECG strip.

Technologies are either bad or good, depending on how we use them. Computers, cars, blenders, portable devices are all classified as technology that would make life easy. Weapons of war are merely needed to defend a nation and not start a war. And technologies in the medical field are use to sustain a person’s life. Technology has its ups and downs in which no place or things in this world of ours are perfectly made.
