Once you have decided to own a ferret as a pet, you will quickly learn that there are some essentials that you will be needing to take care of him or her.  One of the most important purchase you will make is a ferret cage for your pet.  If you have any delusions of keeping a ferret in a cardboard box, they will soon be dismissed.  A ferret’s sharp claws and teeth will make short work of such a silly domicile.  Ferret cages should be made of metal that can resist chewing and scratching.  In addition, your ferret’s home must be equipped with some method of safely securing the door closed so that it can only be opened by human hands.  Unsecured doors on a ferret cage can lead to escaped pets and then tragedy if the ferret makes its way out of the house.
