Soda Can Pencil Holders – A Simple DIY Project

Perhaps, one of the best ways to properly organize your pens is by having an efficient holder to house them. Pen holders, as the name suggest, are generally designed to hold varying kinds of pens in a more orderly fashion. It will be easier for you to keep track of your pens if they are placed in one convenient and accessible location.
The good news is that, holders for pens can be created using recycled materials found at home. Though you can opt to buy pre-made ones in malls, choosing to create one on your own will prove to be more practical and worthwhile. In fact, you can ask your kids to participate in this fun and exciting home project.
Most of the time, people have piles of soda cans in their homes. Instead of throwing them away, why not find good use to them. A soda can is a viable material that you can use to design your very own pen stand or holder.
Indulging in this kind of craft will surely be worth your time. To begin this arts and crafts project, you will need to have an empty soda can, can opener, pencil, paper, colored paper, glue/glue gun, and other types of embellishments of your choice.
First thing to do is to empty the soda can. After that, wash it thoroughly and allow it to completely dry. With the help of the can opener, remove the top part of the can to create a wide opening. It is highly advised that you find a can opener that can cleanly remove the can’s lid without leaving sharp edges.
Use the hammer to lightly and carefully flatten out the can in order to eliminate its sharp edges (if any). Get a piece of paper (preferably colored ones) and then use the pencil to mark the can’s dimension unto the paper to ensure that it will be fully covered. Keep one length longer so it will overlap to other end of the paper.
Once the can is fully covered, you may now start embellishing it. Jazz up the look of your soda can by using crayons, pen markers, poster paints, and other materials that will help spruce it up. You can also include cut-out designs if you wish to. The way you want to design the soda can holder is entirely up to you.
Indeed, creating a DIY pen holder is undoubtedly an interesting project to embark on. Involving your kids will make it even more worthwhile.
