Selecting a Juicer For Making Wheat Grass Juice at Home

Posted by in Food & Drink, Health & Fitness

It sounds bit funny that anyone would go out of their way to buy a hand powered juicer machine. Why bother when there are so many good, and increasingly affordable, electric gadgets out there that make it a lot easier to get the job done?

In truth, there are only a few applications where a hand juicer is the better option – the best recognized being for juicing wheat grass, to make wheat grass juice. This is a veritable miracle food, in that it contains massive amounts of minerals and anti oxidants. By drinking small amounts of the juice everyday it is possible to significantly increase your resistance to many common diseases.

But why a hand juicer? The main reasons are that electric juicers are a lot more expensive, and don’t really offer any significant advantages over hand powered models. Wheat grass juice is very strong tasting, and is only consumed in shots of about 30ml, which takes all of about 1 minute to make when using a manual juicer.

A more powerful electric juicer can probably cut that time in half, but it is clear that saving 30 seconds is not of any great benefit to anyone – especially if you are paying more than twice as much for the electric machine!

In addition to this, a hand juicer is easier to set up, clean, and store in your kitchen drawer or cupboard because it is a lot smaller. There are no power cords to get tangled, and best of all it never wears out. All electric machines will eventually fail when motor winding burn out, and gears wear down – but a hand juicer doesn’t come with any of these complications.

A good quality hand juicer, preferably constructed of stainless steel, is practically a lifetime investment and will give you many years of reliable use.
