Safety First: Why Invest In A Home Security System?

I have often thought about what would happen to my home and my family in the event of a home invasion. There were many reasons I waited so long to invest in a home security system, and many of those were the same reasons that numerous homeowner’s today have not made the investment.
Outside of feeling like a home invasion could never happen to me, I was worried about the cost, the effectiveness, and on a cosmetic level I did not want to give my house the look of a prison. But thick locks, high fences and barred windows are not always necessary as I learned when I did a little research.
Installing a monitored home security system wasn’t as expensive as I’d imagined either, not to mention that I received deductions in my homeowners’ insurance because I’d installed a security system. Homeowners who have home security systems installed are considered “low risk” clients to their insurance companies, and since having a security system lowers the risk of your home being broken into insurance companies assume that you are less likely to be a big liability to them.
Back to the cosmetics. Upon doing a little research you will learn that there are all kinds of new systems available that are minimal in size or that can be hidden within the walls of your home. Some are combined with your fire alarm or carbon monoxide alarm, which can save you even more on your homeowners insurance. There are even security options that can connect to your cellular devices, alerting you if someone tries to invade your home. Monitoring security systems are a popular choice over traditional systems that just set off an alarm. With monitoring you can always count on having an emergency operator, hospital or other proper authority within reach at the touch of a button.
