Procedure for Installing Kitchen Tiles

Tile floor installation is the new convenience in floor cleaning and maintenance. Many people are using floor tile instead of carpet and wood.  If you decide to do tile installation in your kitchen yourself, here are some guidelines to help you.

Normally, there are three kinds of tile.  Some kitchen tiles are pressed, vitrified or porcelain floor tiles.  If you are concerned about looks, economic value, and durability, ceramic kitchen floor tile is the best choice.  This kind of tile floor installation also has the least maintenance.

If you decide to do this kind of tile install, you can either purchase your own tools and do the tile floor installation yourself, or you can find someone who does tile installation professionally. Tile floor installation in a kitchen can sometimes be hard and may take some practice.  It may be better to call a professional if you are not sure of what needs to be done.

Tile installation can be done with the following procedure:  To install kitchen tiles first there needs to be a foundation or substrate.  After that you need to waterproof.  Once that is done, a thin layer of mortar is applied. Then, you set the floor tile on it using a backer board. Once the floor tile is laid out completely, it needs to set for a day. After completing the tile install, the grout is the applied. It will also need to set for a full day.

Having a kitchen tile floor installed can be very messy both indoors and outdoors. If a professional tile person is doing the job, they will dispose of all wasted materials for a possible fee.

Ceramic kitchen tiles can cost less than $1/square foot. However, the tools that it takes to do a tile install job can be altogether costly.  These basic tools cost anywhere from $350 to $500.

However, if you decide to hire a professional tile person to do your tile installation, they may charge anywhere from $5 to $10 dollars per square foot. The amount can vary due to square footage.  To replace the floor tile in a kitchen this is 10×10, amounts to $500-$1,000 for labor only.

Today’s homeowners have new kitchen tiles installed for convenience in cleaning and maintenance.
