Contrary to the beliefs of many, stools are not only used for sitting purposes. There are other types of stools like foot stools where people can rest their feet and step stools which aid in reaching up or down.
There are many styles of step stools and they can be made from different materials as well. Adult step stools are useful all the time, whether used in reaching the top shelf of a closet, changing the light bulb or reaching out for wall cabinets. Even kids can have their own step stools which are made exclusively for them. The children’s step stools can have designs that show their interests like Barbie or Superman.
One-step stools are those that only have one step while two-step stools give the extra height one needs to reach higher places. Step ladders are made of two or more levels. They are intended to give added stability with upper handrail. Step stools with handles help users keep a grip on something as they step up.
The one-step stools, two-step stools and step ladders may come in foldable features. Folding stools are effective in places that have small space. These stools can be easily folded and slipped in a closet or cabinet once they are not used.
The step stools may be used in the bedroom, kitchen, hospital, offices and business establishments, among others. Unlike stools for sitting purposes, not many houses use step stools. Most families use regular chairs in reaching the high areas of their closets and cabinets. However, the use of chairs for these purposes may cause the chair to break or crack and might injure the users if they fall.
A step stool can easily serve its purpose even without putting padding or cushion on it. And because it will eventually be put in a closet or cabinet after use, a step stool is usually without padding as the padding will only enlarge the size of the stool. Still, even if the use of a step stool is not so frequent, there are still others who prefer padded step stools as they give comfort when used.
Padded step stool may not be popularly used for regular reaching tasks but they make very good furniture for display. The choice of step stools to buy must depend on the purpose that they serve.
