Popular Natural Curtain Patterns

Trees are a very big motif right now. They lend more of a natural element to the room but in a more sophisticated way than just using a lot of artificial plants that might go unnoticed. Usually when they do get noticed they just look cheesy. Instead, we’re seeing a lot of tree patterns on the actual curtains themselves. You can even draw inspiration from your actual backyard to use as part of your interior design to make it more personal. I also love blending things in by using sheer curtains on the patio gazebo canopy outside and sheer window blinds inside. This really creates the effect of one larger room or space which is important if you’re short on square footage.

The birch bark pattern has been very popular in furniture, frames, and wallpaper in the past few years. Now it’s even making its way onto fabric. This is going to be an allover pattern. It’s somewhat whimsical, because obviously your curtains aren’t going to be made out of bark. However, it still does bring in all those creams, browns, and whites to match with your typical white but it does add character to your room. Since this is a pretty designer look that hasn’t really made it into the mainstream yet either you’re going to be stuck sewing your curtains or you’re going to pay a little bit of a higher price tag.

However, if you just want to go with something that’s a lot easier to find then try for the idea of tree branches. This really mimics what we see a lot with vinyl wall decals. However, you probably don’t want to use both in your room, just because it will be overkill. You can still use that black and white silhouette. It’s very crisp and modern on your fabric. Just be aware that it’s going to look totally different whether it’s open or closed. Most of the day when it’s open you’re just going to see parts of the disjointed branches. The continuous tree pattern, of course, is apparent when it’s closed, so make sure that you can live with it both ways. The great thing about tree pattern curtains is that they are also pretty neutral. It’s not going to be as gender specific as floral pieces.
