Panning For Gold Is A Fun Family Activity

Times are tough for everyone right now and many people have had to cancel their annual family vacations due to financial constraints.  A lot of these people are looking for an alternative way to spend time with the family.  In today’s article I will be talking about how gold panning can be fun for the entire family.

This is a great activity that your family is sure to enjoy.  One of the nicest things about gold panning as a family is it’s not going to break your budget to get started.  You can outfit the entire family with everything that they will need for a fun weekend of gold panning for less than $100.  You won’t need a bunch of fancy or expensive equipment to get started in this hobby.  All you’ll need are a few gold pans, a few buckets, a few shovels, and a couple of little odds and ends that don’t cost much it all.

One of the best ways to learn the hobby a gold panning is to join your local gold panning club.  I’ll bet you didn’t even know there was a gold panning club in your area but there are clubs like this all over the United States.  When you join a club like this, you will be able to go to one their weekend activities and take your entire family.  This way, your entire family can learn from people who have already learned the secrets of gold panning.

The easiest way to find places to pan for gold is to look in places that gold is already been found.  How are you to know where gold has been found?  Well, my best recommendation would be to purchase some gold panning maps from a web site such as www.goldmapsonline.com.  This website has digital maps that you can purchase that will show all of the current gold mining claims in your state.  We live in Colorado so we bought the Colorado gold panning maps. By knowing where other people have already found gold, you will have a good idea of where to look as well.  You won’t be able to pan for gold on other people’s legal claims but you can pan in the same river without a problem as long as somebody hasn’t already claimed that portion of the river.
