Choosing Outdoor Rocking Chairs

Posted by in -Home and Furnishings

Windsor, Boston rocker, wicker, Adirondack are all titles for various rocking chairs. The first two, the Windsor and the Boston rocker are both used as indoor furniture. Adirondack rocking chairs are clearly for the outdoors because of their bulky size and weight. A wicker rocking chair, however, can be used both indoors and out. Wicker was widely used in furniture making in the 19th century because it was easy to manufacture. A completely woven form it was a very popular style which stills vies for competition with the Adirondack chair. Both styles are made for use as outdoor rocking chairs but wicker seems to be used more for home use whereas Adirondack chairs are seen more as neighborhood pools furniture. Both look great and both can be used to complement your backyard patio. The wicker chairs today are made more from plastic and vinyl materials than wood though you can still find them in the wood variety.
