The Northern Pike fish is found in many countries throughout the world. From North America to the Baltic Sea, Northern Pike fishing is a popular angling sport. Northern Pike fishing is considered exciting due to their aggressive strikes on bait and unique acrobatic skills. They are also among the largest freshwater fish.
There are several methods used to successfully catch the Northern Pike. Using a lure or dead bait are common ways to land this large fish. Northern Pike Fishing from the shore is best during the Springtime when they come into the shallow waters to spawn. During summer, the large female Pikes recede to deeper waters for better cover. For this reason, fishing from a boat is beneficial when Northern Pike Fishing.
Other popular ways of Northern Pike Fishing are using a float tube and fly fishing. This allows an angler to reach deeper water without spooking the fish.
When Northern Pike Fishing, care must be taken when taking the hoof from the fish’s mouth. Due to their numerous, sharp teeth, it is recommended that long forceps be used. It is also a good idea to use barbless trebles when angling for the Northern Pike for better hook release.
