New Small Electric Revo – Better Than Its Big Brother?

The Traxxas eRevo is one of the most amazing RC monster truck designs that has ever been produced, and it is exciting to get to drive one of them and compare the driving characteristics with something such as the Traxxas Stampede, a more conventional monster truck that is not really designed for racing, but more to have fun. The Revo is more of a race truck , and the handling are is very smooth around corners, there is less wind resistance when going straight, and the more advanced components in the Revo (compared to a stock Stampede at least before the most advanced VXL versions were produced) make it a lot snappier overall.
Well now there is a new ERevo out – the mini eRevo. A 1/16 scale model of radio control monster truck, it is a lot smaller than a conventional RC vehicle which normally come out of the box in 1//10th format. So what do you get when you go for the smaller size? Well, because it is so small everything is a lot lighter, so that should in theory mean that you can get a lot more speed out of the smaller model.
As soon as you take it out of the box and hook the battery up you certainly notice that this is the case; there is so much power from the wheels that it is initially very difficult to control the little vehicle – it has a similar problem to Traxxas Stampedes without a wheelie bar in that even the lightest touch of the throttle sends its front flipping over the back.
After a few goes however, and you will learn that by just nudging the controls slightly you can make a smooth start and this is where the fun really begins! The handling on this little model is exceptional, and it is great fun to drive. If you have the money, the new eRevo makes for a fantastic little racer.
