A lot of children and parents are using Macintosh computers for their homeschool work now, especially with the popularity of iPods and iPhones driving sales of Mac computers. Macintoshs were the standard for many years in public education classrooms, and therefore there is a lot of software available for Macintosh for use in homeschools, too. Much of the software that was previously used in school labs was simple, and often drill based. Children were assigned a certain amount of time in the computer lab, and they were required to do drills, and then print the results for their teachers. Most of the computers they were using were Macs. Learning software for Macs have come a long way since then. Many of the software packages available for Mac rival or surpass their pc counterparts. Apple is constantly improving the Mac, and now more than ever, some of the best software you could use in your homeschool is designed for and runs on the Mac.
