Linen Duvet Cover Price Explained

Watch out who you are talking to when mentioning a linen duvet cover. To most Americans it will probably mean a plain comforter cover whereas Europeans associate a duvet with a down comforter which is of course slightly more expensive than a standard comforter set, to say the least.
The most expensive of these down comforters is probably goose down and most people would want to protect this kind of comforter set against staining or at dirt by purchasing a duvet cover. A duvet cover also has the advantage that it is very easy to wash, whereas washing a complete down comforter is not that easy or even recommended.
While on the subject of higher end bedding, you might also prefer a high quality linen duvet cover to go with your down comforter set. People used to linen will tell you that it has a unique feel and is very cooling in summer while at the same time keeping the bed warm in winter. This is due to the hollow stalks of the material which gives it special insulating qualities unlike cotton which is spun from very fine fibers.
Just like its cotton counterparts you can find a linen duvet cover queen, king or almost any other size on the market today. The same with the color variations which range from a plain white linen duvet cover to exquisite animal print bedding sets.
As mentioned before, linen is woven from the stalks of the flax plant which are hollow and relatively big when compared to cotton. This has the advantage that linen easily absorbs and releases moisture and is also one of the reasons that you should always try to dry linen on a traditional clothes line and not in an electric dryer.
In the end it is of course very much an individual choice whether you prefer linen to cotton but I can tell you that I still have to come across the first consumer that switches back to cotton after being used to a linen duvet cover and bed sheets.
