When you first started thinking about starting a business, you might have asked for the advice of friends and family members. You might also have talked to an attorney. If you have an attorney on hand, you can hire them to handle the paperwork that is required from a new corporation starting from the ground needs. The one drawback to having an attorney do it is the high cost in attorney fees that you will end up paying them. Attorneys usually charge you by the hour, so if the paperwork takes 7 hours to complete and the name search takes 15 hours to complete you will be paying out quite a bit of money.

If you are thinking of using an attorney, which is a good thing to do, you can only use them for a small amount of the work that is needed to incorporate your business. For example, the name search is something simple that you can do on your own because the state’s website does everything for you. Where you might need to seek advice from an attorney is filling out the Articles of Incorporation and in researching any state laws that you need to be in compliance with.
