Landscaping Features: Ideas and Comparisons

There are a lot of different ways that you can increase the comfort and beauty of your landscaping. Shade providing structures are a great way to do both at the same time. Whether it’s a gazebo canopy for your back yard, a wrought iron patio furniture set, or a trellised pergola for the garden, these sorts of features will help to keep the blazing sun off while you enjoy the shade underneath. As such, they can greatly expand the livable space of your home and garden, especially in the summer months.
Not just known for their functionality, these types of landscaping additions are also very beautiful. Gazebos have a distinctive architectural style, and some of that can be found in gazebo canopies as well. (Though they tend to be much more plain than their more substantial cousins.) Pergolas on the other hand, especially when trellised, tend to have a more subdued and natural look and feel. Such a feature goes well with the rest of your lawn and garden, adding a sturdy and long lasting look to go with the beauty of the trellised plants.
Sometimes though a less natural look is desired, but you still want that sturdy and somewhat earthy feel to the structure. In this case, wrought iron is a good choice. Well suited to outdoor environments, wrought iron looks like it can last forever, and taken care of properly could even make good on that visual promise. The subdued colors that wrought iron is generally given, along with the distinctive flowery and twirling designs it is formed into, make it a good match for just about any location in your home or garden. A wrought iron bench is as at home in a hallway as it is out on the patio, and the same can be said of most other items comprised of wrought iron.
