Massage oils and ointments made from vinegar and rose petals or vinegar, black pepper and water have been effective topical home remedies. Herbal remedies for gout are safe and inexpensive. Once you feel the symptoms – pain in the joints and knees, toe swelling, fever, loss of appetite – move to a gout-fighting diet immediately for about a week.
