How To Correctly Use a Blackhead Remover
Posted by GuestPoster in Personal Improvement
If used properly, blackhead remover tools at home can give you professional quality results. Also known as blackhead or comedone extractors, blackhead removers are a safer alternative to fingernails. These tools are looped, which allows for more even pressure. The more gentle and even the pressure on the skin, the less likely scarring and damage will occur.
Step 1: Prepare your skin with moist heat
Warm moisture will open your pores, softening the oily gunk deep down in your skin. You can do this by using a facial steamer or a warm compress. If using a steamer, steam for 10-15. You can apply a warm, moist cloth over your face for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Extraction
There are several types of blackhead removal tools that you can choose from, but any of these tools should have at least one loop at the end of it. Place the loop over the blackhead, so that the loop is surrounding it. Apply slight and even pressure; the pore should dislodge the blackhead and release oil. Continue with the pressure until the pore stops oozing gunk. Do not try to continue to release a blackhead if it is resistant, as you can cause infection and irritation. Instead, leave it alone and try again in a few days.
Step 3: Cleanse and Disinfect
Thoroughly cleanse your face and apply an astringent to disinfect the area. This will help kill the bacteria that was released from the extracted blackheads. Follow up with a cool water rinse and toner to close the pores.
