Having a tile floor is a nice alternative to some other floors. It is especially appreciated in bathrooms and laundry rooms; rooms where moisture is present. Maintenance of tile flooring is minimal if the grout has been properly sealed. Even when it wears thin there is some effort involved to keep or get it clean again. Sanitation is another consideration in these rooms. There are a number of ways to clean this type of floor.

Tips on how to clean floor tile grout:

1. You clean grout with household cleaning supplies products. There are several products specifically made available for grout cleaning.  But little did you know, you have already some products at home that can be used to effectively clean some tile grout. All you need to do is to exercise some simple patience in cleaning by doing it regularly. Clean to remove debris and other dirt on and in the grout. A vinegar and water solution can be sprayed all over, or a paste of baking soda or hydrogen peroxide can be used to clean hard stained grout.

2. In some instances a steam cleaner can be used to clean floor tile grout. Also, some hardware stores sell very strong chemicals that are intended for commercial or industrial use. These grout cleaners are specially designed to remove extra tough and deeply penetrated grout stains and dirt in a fast and effective way. When using these chemicals, remember that they must not be mixed with other chemicals. This  to avoid chemical reactions which may cause adverse reactions to your health as well as the condition of the grout.

There may be times that grout cannot be cleaned well due to discoloration brought by time and certain stains. Usually this is because the grout was not properly sealed when it was installed. Old grout can be replaced by new grout. This is very labor intensive and runs the risk of chipping the tile when in the removal process. It would be better to try several products before doing this. Alas, sometimes it is the only option.

After you have had your floor tiles and grout cleaned and restored, you will need to seal the fresh grout. Products are available to seal your floor tiles and grout. The grout sealers are in various colors to match with your floor tiles. It is easier to clean a sealed grout and it is foolish not to have your grout sealed.
