Horse Grooming – Tails

Posted by in Pets Galore

A horse’s tail is of great importance, for balance, for swatting flies and for making your pet look good!  It is vital not to skimp on this area of horse care.

Start by brushing out any large bits of grass and dirt.  You may then want to add some sort of detangler, if the tail has developed a lot of knots.  You can then use your fingers to work out any areas that have become matted or tangled.  Once this has been done you can start at the tip of the tail, gradually brushing from higher and higher points, until the whole tail has been combed out.

In some instances you may want to bang or clip the tail but otherwise, the natural look is good.
