The most common reason why a swimming pool is installed is for you and your family to enjoy the fun of swimming in your own place. The water where you and your family would want to swim must be crystal clear and clean so that it will be safe for your loved ones aside from the fact that nobody really enjoys swimming in unclean pools. When your pool water changes into green color, or any other color, immediate cleaning must be done in order for your pool to be safe again for swimming. The green color of you pool usually comes from the algae that is present in your pool that has multiplied after a long period of time. When children are swimming in the pool, there is always a possibility that they will drink some of the pool water, and an unclean pool water will always increase the risk of your children getting sick. So you must always maintain the cleanliness of your swimming pool so that anybody who would like to swim or take a dip in your pool will feel the full enjoyment and will not have any fear in soaking in your pool.

Once cleaning of a green pool is started, the process must continue until the algae which causes the green coloration are all removed. A small amount of algae left in the pool can multiply very fast if left untreated. One of the most effective agent in eliminating algae in your pool is by application of chlorine. Putting chlorine in your swimming pool and applying it regularly at a certain concentration can help control the algae population in your pool. Regular monitoring of the chlorine content of your pool is strongly recommended. When the amount of chlorine is beginning to drop, it will be an indication that algae population is beginning to increase once again. In order to have small expenses in chlorine application, it is best to apply regularly at minimum concentration. Another way is with the use of a pump and filter. The pump and filter must be operated at least 24 hours in order to remove the algae completely of an average sized swimming pool. Another chemical that might prove useful in cleaning your green pool is the cyanuric acid, or CYA. This is needed to stabilize the chlorine. If CYA is absent, the chlorine will dissipate very fast that it can not fight the algae effectively.

There are many procedures in cleaning and treating a green pool thereby making it available again enjoyable for swimming. While it green pool cleaning might be manageable it would still be best to clean your pool regularly rather than waiting for it to get dirty before doing anything; take it from me, I am personally cleaning my pool for decades now and counting.
