According to Wikipedia, a handle is described as a grip attached to a certain item that is used in moving an object. A classic example is door handles. Since 1940’s, glass handles had been paired with steel to make it durable and to make design and colors more clear on the surface of the handle. At present, using handles made of glass in offices, bedrooms, front doors and even shower rooms are already popular. They are not only preferred because of their durability but also for aesthetic purposes. These type of handles are easy to design and is more convenient to match any architectural set up.
Glass Handles can come in different shapes, colors and sizes depending on the purpose why they were made. They can also be antique, commercial and vintage. These kind of handles, no matter how old they are, require gentle handling and much care to preserve the quality of the item. It is very important to avoid scratching the glass surface while cleaning the piece. If you have limited knowledge in cleaning the item, it is best to consult an expert. If a piece has cracks and chips, it is suggested you bring it to a glass conservator to have it repaired. These items should also be exposed to the right temperature because they are susceptible to cracks.
Glass items, depending on their age, may undergo the condition called weeping where it develops fogs on it. These items can also suffer from grizzling presenting the glass item with cracks on it. These conditions can be fixed through stain removers and steel wool. Also, frequent cleaning of the item prevents these conditions from happening. So, keep your glass handles looking nice and new by caring for it every day. Just make sure to avoid using harmful agents in the processing of cleaning and preserving you handles.
