Giving Custom Walkin Shower Enclosures a Shot

Posted by in -Home Improvement

It may seem a little iffy to use someone’s custom walk in shower. There is a very good reason for this, since custom designs will typically be tailor made for the person intended to use the fixture, and there is little doubt that something tailor made for one person will fit very well on another, unless that other person is some kind of doppelganger for the first one. At any rate it is like clothes – your clothes typically fit you, in terms of both dimensions and of space, while another person’s clothes fit them in terms of dimensions and of space.

The shower shares the same preoccupations. Because custom walkin shower enclosures must by definition be built to a single person’s standard or perhaps a group’s if they have shared custody of the bathroom fixtures and household, what works for one person may not necessarily work as well for another person. You must give the custom design a proper shot in order to see if it indeed fits you in any way as a regular shower would fit you. if not, then you must, so to speak, abandon ship.

You see, when something is made for someone else it is typically a bad idea to expect it to magically fit you. If it does, then that’s fine, you have found someone whose tastes and specifications are a match to yours, and you would no doubt get along really well if you ever hung out. However most of the time this is not the case, and you are liable to find yourself having issues with the usage of whatever device it is you are trying to crudely fit to your specifications. That is an unrealistic expectation to have.

A brief trial period, if you have inherited someone else’s custom shower, is probably necessary. You may after a time find that it in fact fits you perfectly well, despite being initially weird. Or you might find that the shower is incompatible with you in every way, and you will soon have to tear it out of your bathroom wholesale and install a better fitting one in its place.
