Feeding Your Dog: Consider These Tips

Dogs are loving kind of creatures. They make no fuss even if you place them in cheap dog kennels. This does not matter as long as you feed your dog properly.
There is no specific way on how to feed a dog, and there are as many different ways of feeding a dog as there are kinds of dogs. A pack of foxhounds for instance can finish an entire cow, horse r other animal while a lapdog can be fed with a diet of chicken breast enhanced with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.
Although dogs are primarily carnivores, or meat eaters, their body also needs vegetables. Wolves, which are a close relative of the domestic dogs eat both the meat and bone of an animal and also consumes the partially digested stomach contents of cows and other herbivore animals. If they are not able to eat such animals, the wolves eat growing vegetables and fruits.
Although there are many types of diet that can be given to dogs, all dogs need particular nutritional elements. These include protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals. All these important elements are available in a lot of commercial dog food preparations. These commercial dog foods are sold in cans and in a variety of forms like biscuits, pellets, meal wafers and bologna. If fed with these preparations, no other supplements are needed.
Puppies normally consume soft foods like milk, cereal and commercially prepared dog food specially made for puppies. This diet is given until the puppy reaches three months old. Vitamins and minerals should be frequently added to diet. The puppies should be fed three to four times a day, whereas adult dogs eat only once a day. Dogs should not be over fed. When over fed, the dogs become picky and overweight. A good way to prevent overfeeding is to not feed a dog unless it is hungry enough to eat a piece of dry bread.
