Esee Knives and Survival Training

Most people are accustomed to the comforts of life available in the area in which they live. The idea of surviving out in the wild without these amenities is daunting, yet there are many who choose to participate in trainings which purposely help prepare people to deal with the harsher realities of having to kill and prepare food. At the Randall’s Adventure and Training website, there is a very fitting disclaimer used to warn potential students of the circumstances involved in undertaking such training.
It states, “if you are squeamish, politically correct, lack a sense of humor or have a problem with reality and adverse conditions, then you would be better off finding another organization to train with.” The emphasis on having a sense of humor with a tolerance for reality and adverse conditions is really fitting and is easily seen when episodes of Survivor Man and Man vs. Wild are viewed back to back.
The host of Man Vs. Wild has a much more dominant sense of humor that keeps him lively and optimistic about the challenging conditions which he faces. When it comes to Survivor Man, more of the melancholy shows through, which is realistic in and of itself since most people would be facing this emotional challenge in conjunction with the physical circumstances. In general, many people are completely unfamiliar with the process needed in order to trap and kill a source of food, clean it properly and prepare it as part of a meal.
However, these are everyday elements when dealing with the harsher realities of surviving in the wilderness. At Randall’s Adventure and Training, the use of Esee knives is an integral part of being able to complete these necessary tasks. When dealing with a freshly caught animal, it is often best to clean and gut the creature as soon as possible in order to preserve the quality of the meat as well as have less weight to cart back to camping areas. Even experienced survivalists who are intimately familiar with the process needed to clean and gut an animal know it takes some time to complete.
When choosing an Esee knife to use in such endeavors, it is important to select a grip that fits the hand well in order to make the process of cleaning and gutting the animal as comfortable as possible. Tools like Esee knives are also very versatile when it comes to skinning the hide and removing internal organs. In regular cooking tasks such as those completed within restaurants and diners, it is common to have numerous cooking tools and knife styles available in order to cut a wide variety of ingredients decorously.
When part of a survival situation though, being able to travel light while handle any such circumstances often calls for an adaptable tool like Esee knives which can be effectively used for a myriad of items. The external skin and internal organs of an animal vary greatly in consistency, but survivalists rarely have a set of knives or cooking utensils to choose from, instead, they need one or two reliable options that are versatile enough to handle the different textures. Like kitchen knives, it also needs to be fairly easy to clean and hold a good edge in order to endure the tasks for which it may be needed in the wilderness.
The harsh reality of adverse conditions are ever present when participating in survivalist training conditions and having good tools like the Esee knives is just as important as remembering to bring a healthy dose of humor with which to dispel the blues that like to piggy back on life challenges.
