Environmentally Friendly Reclosable Plastic Vegetable Bags

It can be very difficult to keep up with all the demands of modern day society. We are expected to try to do our part to reduce the carbon footprint, save the environment and provide our families with healthy lifestyle choices.  Plastics are a big part of everyday life, yet they are not that environmentally friendly. One way to work towards helping in all of these areas is by using reclosable plastic bags.

You can store food in reclosable poly bags, keeping it healthy and fresh for longer. With a zipper at the top, they can often be used over time and again, providing they do not become too soiled or contaminated. Bags with small breathing holes are perfect for storing fresh fruit and vegetables, these are the type of bags you often see supermarkets sell their fruit and vegetables in. They are designed to take away plant emissions and to allow your vegetables to come in contact with just the right amount of both air and water. Oxygen is allowed to escape as well. Some bag manufacturers claim that these types of bags will keep a head of lettuce fresh for weeks, whereas sealing lettuce in a regular plastic bag will soon see it going off and losing its freshness.

Just buying these type of vegetable storing bags will cut down on how much you are spending on vegetables each week as you will find that your vegetables last much longer. In addition the vegetables will also be much fresher and have more vitamins and minerals than those that are poorly stored.

If you are not able to find these types of bags in your regular supermarket you may be able to buy some from your local fruit and vegetable market, or at least find out where the vendors buy theirs from. It really will help save costs and will allow you to eat more healthful food if you are able to locate and buy some for your home use.
