Dummy security cameras are very popular with people on a tight budget. they can keep there house safe without spending too much. Simulating the looks of the real camera, these ‘fakes’ are present in a variety of sizes and shapes, much like their operational counterparts. Dome, pinhole spy, and ceiling cameras are all present in dummy versions as well, thereby, allowing you to provide the impression of an area that is well monitored.
The most important factor in deploying dummy CCTVs, for maximum impact, is their correct placement. They should ideally be a warning sign accompanying them. A sign, such as ‘Warning, CCTV Recording in Action!’, that can be attached to a nearby wall will make their presence felt strongly.
By mounting them in obvious locations, you can bring attention to the fact that the concerned area is camera secured. There are many new models that move and tilt in the same way as real expensive cameras do, so it is difficult to distinguish them from real cameras. Only very advanced criminals can make out the difference in real and fake cameras but most do not take a chance to linger around to study the camera closely.
Obviously, there are few disadvantages of choosing a dummy camera over a real camera. Nothing gets recorded as there is no machinery inside the camera. They are good in stopping petty crimes but if you want recorded actions – you should consider a real CCTV camera instead.
Installing fake cameras together with real ones is a great tactic that large sites and big stores use to their advantage, you can copy them too. If you already have CCTV camera system implemented, you can actually install a few fake CCTV cameras in those blind spot areas that were bothering you since a long time. Thus, you can enhance your business or home security at little cost.
