Don’t Buy a Used Corner Sofa Bed

There are many people out there who understand the benefits of a corner sofa bed, and they’d love to have one for their own house. But everyone knows that corner sofas aren’t cheap, and neither are corner sofa beds. So some people decide to buy a used sofa. Is that wise? There are many opinions out there regarding this topic, but here is a reason or two why you might want to avoid this option at all costs.
The number one reason not to buy used furniture in general is that you don’t know where it’s been or how it has been used. This might not bother you until you start realizing that not all people treat their furniture well. Some people smoke cigarettes or even use other drugs while inside the house. Some drugs, once they coat a surface, can never be removed, and inhaling the fumes from the couch can be dangerous to you.
Another big problem with used furniture is the real threat of bed bugs. To many of us, bed bugs are just a cute saying that parents say at night, “Don’t let the bed bugs bite.” But to many other people, the nightmare of bed bugs has taken over their lives. Bed bugs are a growing problem around the world, and many people for whatever reason don’t even know they have the bugs.
These bugs can live dormant for a long time in a sofa or mattress, so when you pick up the used furniture, they come into your house and start attacking you. People who have had bed bugs can assure you that bed bugs are like a plague and not worth the risk of bringing them into your home.
There is also a risk when buying a new sofa bed, actually. Even factories and reputable retail stores can be infested with bed bugs. There is no 100% way to know that you are not bringing these bugs into your house, whether you buy used or new furniture. But if you buy new, you can do a bit of homework and make sure you buy from a store not infested with bugs. You cannot do the same with used.
This is not to scare you. New furniture is wonderful, and if you take precautions, you will end up with furniture you love for a reasonable price. Just try to avoid used furniture if you can.
