DIY Tips For Improve Your Home’s Curb Appeal

Posted by in -Home Improvement

With summer being well underway at last, you have probably been spending more and more of your free time out of the house, either just enjoying the weather with the occasional BBQ, or doing some of those jobs that have been put off all winter.

Either way, this is the time of year when you might start thinking more about how you can make your house look nicer from the outside. Whether you are planning to sell or not, curb appeal matters and everyone wants to have a nice looking house to come home to.

Fixing your gutters

It might seem like a small thing, but your guttering is like the border for your house, and fixing cracks, wonky joins or weathered looking sections can make all the difference to home your house looks. Just giving your gutters a good clean will go a long way too.

Tidy up the driveway

You don’t have to fork out for a nice new paved driveway – but doing the little things, like spraying the weeds and cleaning up any oil stains can make a big difference. It is surprising how much cleaner a freshly jet washed driveway can look.

Windows

You don’t have to get new windows – although that can be a great way to add value to your property. Just a few little repairs can make all the difference to wooden windows – and if your windows are UPVC, giving the frames a good clean with dish detergent can turn them white again and make them look like new.

Paint It

This is a bigger job, but if your house has a painted exterior, a fresh lick of paint can do wonders. This is the sort of thing that you can do yourself over the summer and it is very satisfying to work on. Combine this with some new or repainted windows and your house will be totally transformed!

A Final Thought

People sometimes assume that you have to be a builder to improve the look of your house, but in reality, a few small jobs can make a big difference, and you can enjoy doing them too.
