Everyone needs to sleep in order to rest and energize the body after long hours of work. In these modern times, comfort is not anymore taken for granted since many products that provide comfort are already available to many people. While people in the earliest civilizations were contented in sleeping on the bare ground, people nowadays prefer sleeping on beds and mattresses. Greater comfort in sleeping is achieved if the beds and mattresses are covered with bedding.
There are many kinds of bed sheets but one particular kind of bedding that is favored by many consumers is cotton jersey knit sheet. The primary characteristic of this type of sheet that makes it a favorite of many consumers is its soft feel which is the same as the texture of T-shirt. Sleeping on a cotton jersey sheet provides the same feeling as putting on a soft cotton shirt.
Cotton is an ideal fabric material in making sheets because it is natural and is therefore good for the skin. There are many kinds of cotton from which jersey knit bedding can be made and these include Egyptian, Pima and Supima cotton. The Egyptian cotton has the softest feel and is the most expensive among all kinds of cotton materials. Aside from the kind of cotton from which the sheets are produced, another determinant of the quality of the jersey knit bed sheets is the thread count. Jersey sheets with higher thread count are generally softer and more durable than those that have lower thread counts.
The cotton jersey knit bed sheet is often compared to flannel sheet because both sheets are known for their soft texture. However, the jersey sheet is deemed more flexible than the flannel sheet. The cotton jersey sheet with its breathable weave can be used all throughout the year. On the other hand, the flannel sheet is best used during winter because its thickness might provide too much warmth during the summer period.
Cotton jersey knit bedding comes in different sizes and prices. The small jersey sheets used in cribs can be availed for as low as $20 per set. The larger sets with king, queen and full sizes are sold in a price range of $25 to $80 per set. The price of the cotton jersey knit bed sheets varies depending on the size, materials, thread count, construction and brand.
