Choices of Debt Relief

If you have nearly exhausted all your liquid assets and you no longer have enough to pay off all your current debtors, you should seriously consider applying for some form of debt relief. Fortunately, due to the complexities of the economic system and the business of finance, there are now several options for individuals as well as businesses to pay off their debts even in the absence of liquid assets to cover all their debts. Of course, this is assuming that you still have enough properties to cover your debt or have some means of repayment.
The simplest form of debt relief is settlement. This is usually available only to individuals such as those who have overcharged their credit cards and are no longer able to pay off their minimum monthly installments. The credit card company will usually offer a settlement price which is much lower than the amount owed by the individual to the company. Of course, this results in damage to the individual’s reputation and credit rating.
Another type of debt relief is bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is a legal form of debt relief wherein the court will either appoint an administrator or allow the owner of the business to continue in his business for the sole purpose of raising enough funds to repay all his creditors. All the creditors must respect the terms and conditions of the qualified bankrupt individual or business.
There is also secured debt consolidation. This is a type of loan that is offered by many financing companies. The individual applying for debt consolidation will be required to offer a collateral such as real property or valuable personal property in order to cover the amount of the loan. The company releases the amount of the loan directly to all the consolidated debtors of the individual and deals directly with them in favor of the person taking out the loan. Debt consolidation is usually subject to high interest rates so get some debt consolidation quotes and compare plans before making your final decision
