Cheap Halloween Costume: Making vs. Buying

Posted by in -Occassions

If you’re planning a fun Halloween night, you may be intimidated by making a costume. Perhaps you’ve thought that making a costume is cheaper than buying one. In some instances, making is cheaper than buying, but today Halloween costumes can cost as little as $25. Bolts of fabric can cost around $10 and then add in accessories, makeup, dyes etc and you’re at least out $25.

There are certain tips that can reduce the cost of a homemade costume. For instance, using objects around the house for a costume or using boxes etc as costumes. Coffee grounds, honey and an old blazer can be used for a bum costume. A sheet, of course, can be used as a ghost or toga. So those are some basic costumes that you can make extremely cheaply.

For a store bought cheap Halloween costume, you can find many online. Some older styles of costumes can cost as little as $12. You can buy accessories for about $5 bucks for a costume. Even the Harry Potter costumes are extremely cheap. The robe costs around $12 and the wand and glasses cost around $2.50. A costume for $15 (if you include the taxes or the Gryffindor tie). Pretty cheap in my opinion.
