Chair pads cushions come in many shapes, sizes and styles.  The choices ranges from custom made cushions to store bought prefab ones.  Despite all of these choices, it really is a simple task to buy a few cushion pads for your kitchen chair set or bar stools.  There are just a few things to consider before going out and spending the cash, however.

The simplest solution for equipping your chairs’ with comfy padded seats is to go to your local department store, or shop online, and buy some “one size fits all” pads.  For style range, there’s the simple rounded carpet style pads, all the way to the more elaborate foam padded cushions with tie down straps.

The problem with buying cushions like these is you are forced to take what you get.  You can save a lot of money this way, but would you be truly happy, and will the cushions last?

Having your cushions custom made will allow for many more options.  For one, you will be able to choose the exact fabric that you want to use.  You have the option of going with a higher quality fabric that will be more resistant to wear.  Perhaps you want a specific fabric to match your room’s decor.  Maybe you have fabric left over from a sofa slipcover job, drapes, or other cushions that you had made, which would be perfect for this.

Going the custom made route also allows you to size and shape the cushions to exactly fit the chairs or stools.  Typical chair pads cushions don’t need to be the exact same size or shape of the chair seat, but some applications call for it.  For example, some bar stool cushions have elaborate securing systems such as a stretch skirt, or straps which are fed through below the seat top.  Not having a properly sized cushion, in this case, would ruin the fit.  Good luck with your choosing!
