Redness on face can be caused by different reasons; there are causes that produce temporary effects only such as shyness, exercise, and change in temperature. The face can also be red because of skin irritants that are alarming sometimes – facial irritation is often accompanied by itching, flakiness, scaling, bumps, and puffiness.
Lots of people think that too much scrubbing of their face can cause redness– but scrubbing doesn’t actually result to lasting face redness, its effect is only short lived. Here are the main factors that could cause redness on the face and their corresponding remedies:
1. Climate – too much cold or a lot of sun exposure can make the skin look red. To avoid skin from sun damage, it is advisable to apply a facial cream with an additional SPF (Sun Protection Factor).
2. Having a sensitive skin – people with sensitive skin are more vulnerable to irritation; they easily react to most skin products. To minimize the redness of the face, review your facial products and detergent, and then check if they contain alcohol and other drying ingredients.
3. Unhealthy diet – oily and fatty foods can trigger breakouts in the face. A healthy diet and lesser alcohol intake can often guarantee a healthy looking skin. Instead of alcohol consumption, drinking a lot of water is always the healthier choice; it can also help in detoxifying the body for a more youthful skin. Foods that are good for the skin should be eaten more often such as fruits, berries, vegetables, and fish – these foods contain antioxidants that could nourish the skin.
4. Make-up products – there are type of skin that are highly sensitive with some make-up brands. A make-up brush should be washed regularly because it can be a breeding ground for bacteria that could infect the skin.
When you can spot redness on your face, it is not advisable to touch it with your hands. Our hands contain millions of bacteria which can heighten the irritation on your face.
A lot of people especially women would spend a large amount of money so that their face would be taken care of, but there are actually natural products that could help reduce redness on face such as chamomile, cucumber, and green tea.
