Burglar Alarms: False Alarms

Most homeowners with burglar alarm systems do not understand that a common problem with them is false alarms. They are caused by things such as a pet walking through interior sensors, a broken seal in a door or window or openings not fully closed. Aside from being annoying and frightening for people around they also pull law enforcement away from what they could be doing on more serious crimes.
In many areas as a homeowner you can be fined by local government for repeated burglar alarm false alarms. The best thing you can do is make routine checks of your interior to make sure that seals are snug and doors are properly closed. The last thing you need is for the neighbors and police to assume a real breach of your home is nothing more than another false alarm.
