Beach Heaven

I’m one of those lucky people that get to live by the beach. Well in New Zealand we all get to pretty much live close to a beach since it only takes a few hours to drive from one side of the island to another.
But I happen to live by one of the best beaches in all of NZ – Mt Maunganui. Now some might say I am biased since I come from the Bay of Plenty, but believe me, I’m not being unjust when I say we have one of the best beaches in the world!
A perfect day for me would be to pack my togs (swims suit to non Kiwi’s) and a great book and head down to the beach put up my beach umbrella and spend the next few hours lying on the sand relaxing.
The Mount, as it is known, has an artificial surf reef so we’re never short of waves if surfing takes your fancy. There are also a number of cafes and bars in case you get hungry or thirsty.
At the end of the day, I’m sad to put down my umbrella and pack up my sand crusted togs, but I know I can come back another day; after all it’s only a short walk away from my doorstep!
