Barbie Clothes, Fashion Royalty Clothes and Bratz

If I had a choice of giving my girl a doll, although controversial, I would pick Barbie. Barbie has had some very problematic issues with image, however, she also has had some very good images. Did you know that Barbie graduated from college in the 1960s? That was before the women’s rights movement gained momentum. In later years Barbie wore the clothing of a Presidential candidate, doctor, vet and more. It’s this image I’m happy to give my daughter, rather than the tight pants and halter topped Bratz dolls. While I have nothing against the dolls looking a bit sexy, after all Barbie has had her days of sexy fashions, I prefer a doll that offers a modicum of role model clothes.
Regular Barbie clothes can’t come close to the Fashion Royalty brands, but they offer a lot of choices for normal girl clothing. Although, truth be told, most girls would prefer the glamorous styles.
