Avatar the Last Airbender flash games are numerous, and available at many places on the internet. They are based on the anime show of the same name, about Aang – the last airbender and his friends. Some are rather simple, as many flash time killers are, and some are a bit more complicated, but all have a certain allure and are enjoyable. Aang is a child who has the power to control all four of the elemental forces of nature. He is trying to build his experience and skills at “bending” or manipulating these elements on his journey to find himself and fulfill his role as the savior of his planet’s people who are caught in a war brougt on by the nation of Fire. The firebenders are bent on dominating the world, enslaving the other nations and taking complete control. This has thrown the forces of nature out of balance, and it is Aang’s destiny to restore that balance.
Though varied in theme, these games are all based on this general premise, and portray various aspects of this journey. Some of them are based in a single element, like Blazing Barge or Ashes in the Air. Others are battle tournaments, where you pit your elemental bending abilities against various opponents. Still more focus on educational themes or puzzles, such as word searches and trivia pertaining to the series.
Though flash games are the focus of this article, it should be mentioned that there are also many console system offerings available that are based on the Avatar the Last Airbender theme. Since the creation of the live action movie in 2010, there has been a surge of interest in the story, and this interest always seems to manifest in a great deal of creative energy being focused toward other avenues of entertainment.
